39 judges appointed, including nine lawyers, in high courts across seven provinces

KATHMANDU, Jan 3: The Judicial Council has appointed 39 judges to fill vacant positions in the high courts in the seven provinces.

KATHMANDU, Jan 3: The Judicial Council has appointed 39 judges to fill vacant positions in the high courts in the seven provinces.


The decision to appoint these judges was reached during a meeting held on Wednesday under the chairmanship of the Judicial Council Chairman and Chief Justice, Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha.

Out of the 39 appointed judges, nine have been selected from the pool of lawyers.


The judiciary has faced prolonged vacancies in the posts of judges in both the Supreme Court and the high courts.


Additionally, one more judge is yet to be recommended for appointment to the Supreme Court.


The meeting has also approved the transfer of 16 high court judges.
