KATHMANDU, Dec 19: As many as 88 people have died of COVID-19 this week, taking the fatality tally of Nepal to 1,777.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), Nepal reported the highest number of mortalities with 18 deaths on Monday (Dec 13) while the lives of only six people were claimed by the deadly virus on Thursday.

The Health Ministry carried out 5765 RT-PCR tests on average a day between Sunday to Saturday. Of the total 40,350 tests Nepal conducted this week, the most number of people –7,117— went through lab tests on Tuesday while only 4,780 tests were carried out on Saturday.

A total of 1,866,210 PCR tests have so far been conducted in Nepal since January 23.
Meanwhile, Nepal has detected a cumulative of 253,184 COVID-19 cases including 5,591 this week. Nepal, which once witnessed as many as 6,000 cases a day, reported less than 1000 daily-counts in all seven days of this week.

The Health Ministry confirmed 1,175 recoveries on Saturday. With this, the total number of recoveries has advanced to 242,567 which accounts for 95.80 percent of the total confirmed cases.
