KATHMANDU, August 11: A writ petition has been registered at the Supreme Court against the appointment of actor Bhuwan KC as the chairman of the Film Development Board.
The other candidates who had applied for the chairmanship of the Board claiming that KC was not qualified for the post filed the petition demanding the cancellation of the decision of the Council of Ministers on 25th July to appoint KC to the crucial post of the entertainment industry.

It has been demanded that the appointment be revoked as KC has only passed the proficiency certificate level, even though it is mandatory to pass Bachelors level to be appointed as the chairman of the Board. Bimal Paudel, spokesperson for the Supreme Court, said that the writ petition has been registered and the preliminary hearing will be held on Monday.
Actor KC was appointed as the chairperson of the Film Development Board by a Cabinet meeting held on July 25, Monday. The government selected KC out of the list of 10 people who were nominated for the post.
