Army trounces Sankata in Martyrs Memorial ‘A’ Division League Football

KATHMANDU, Nov 26: Tribhuvan Army Club trounced Sankata Club, five goals to one, in the first match played under the fourth round of the Martyrs Memorial ‘A’ Division League Football Championship today.

KATHMANDU, Nov 26: Tribhuvan Army Club trounced Sankata Club, five goals to one, in the first match played under the fourth round of the Martyrs Memorial ‘A’ Division League Football Championship today. 


With the win, Army continues its unbeaten journey in the league and has climbed to the first position in the points tally by amassing 10 points. The Army had registered two wins and one draw in the three matches it played under the league before this. 


This is the first defeat for Sankata in the league. It had lapped victory in all three matches it played under the league before this. Sankata has nine points.

Army, which was leading 2-1 in the first half of the game added three goals to romp to victory in the second half. However, it was Sankata which had scored the first goal of the match. Alon Maxwell, a foreign player, scored the first goal for Sankata in the 9th minute of play. 


Army’s Tek Bahadur Budhathoki scored an equalizer goal in the 17th minute of the first half. Captain Bharat Khawas scored the second goal for the Army in the 29th minute of play. Santosh Tamang scored in the 63rd minute through a free-kick taking the Army’s lead by two goals. Less than two minutes from Santosh’s goal came another goal from Tek Bahadur again. 


Dinesh Henjan’s goal in the 75th minute sealed the Army’s victory.
