KATHMANDU, Feb 19: The COVID-19 Crisis Management Center (CCMC) has recommended District Administration Offices (DAOs) in Kathmandu Valley to lift the odd-even rule enforced earlier for all private vehicles and taxis.

A meeting of the CCMC held on Sunday also decided to recommend government bodies to allow resuming physical classes in schools, open cinema halls and give permission to open night businesses such as restaurants starting February 13, according to CCMC officials.

The CCMC has recommended running physical classes regularly in case of students above 12 years of age and arrange alternative classes in case of students below 12 years of age. The night businesses will be able to operate until 10 PM from February 13 as per the CCMC's recommendations.

The CCMC has urged everyone to follow health safety protocol to stay safe from the COVID-19 pandemic and directed local authorities concerned to effectively monitor people's compliance of the health safety protocols.

A joint meeting of the Chief District Officers (CDOs) of Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur district is expected to issue a fresh notice in line with the CCMC's recommendations to make people's life easier.

A  meeting of the CDOs of Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur held on January 28 had decided to lift the odd-even rule for public transport including buses, microbuses and three-wheelers.  The meeting, however, had decided to continue enforcing the rule in case of taxis and all kinds of private vehicles.
