COVID-19 death toll in Biratnagar rises to eight

MORANG, Aug 24: With one more COVID-19 related death on Sunday night, the COVID-19 death toll in Biratnagar Metropolitan City has risen to eight.

MORANG, Aug 24: With one more COVID-19 related death on Sunday night, the COVID-19 death toll in Biratnagar Metropolitan City has risen to eight.


According to Koshi Hospital, a 65-year old man from Biratnagar Metropolitan City succumbed to COVID-19 while undergoing treatment at around 9 pm on Sunday.

After the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) was detected in one of his family members, the old man had given his swab sample for a test and the test result came positive for the virus on Sunday. He was then taken to Koshi Hospital for treatment on the same day.


According to Dr Dipak Sigdel, the deceased was brought to the hospital with serious health conditions. “We tried our best but could not save him,” he said.


Three family members including a two-year old granddaughter of the deceased old man have already been infected with the virus. They are currently staying at home isolation.


So far, two individuals have died of COVID-19 infection at Koshi Hospital.
