Daily count spikes to 6,734 on Monday, 3,939 cases recorded in Valley alone

KATHMANDU, Jan 17: Nepal recorded 6,734 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday along with 547 recoveries and three deaths, according to the latest information provided by the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP).

KATHMANDU, Jan 17: Nepal recorded 6,734 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday along with 547 recoveries and three deaths, according to the latest information provided by the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP).


As many as 17, 465 swab samples were tested for COVID-19 on the day. Of them, 5,747 PCR and 987 antigen tests turned out to be positive for the deadly virus.

There are currently 31,042 active cases of COVID-19 across the country. Among them, 29,705 are in home isolation, 1,172 in institutional isolation, 139 in ICUs, and 26 on ventilators. Similarly, 100 people are currently in quarantine facilities. So far, 11,623 people have died of the viral infection across the country.


Meanwhile, the Kathmandu Valley alone recorded 3,939 cases of the virus on Monday. Of them, 2,943 were recorded in Kathmandu, 201 in Bhaktapur, and 795 in Lalitpur districts.
