One in 10 persons receiving the shots experienced slight side effects


KATHMANDU, Jan 30: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) has urged one and all to take the shots of Covishield vaccine without any hesitation.


Joint spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, Dr Samir Kumar Adhikari  said that the Covishield vaccine has only minor side effects.

“After receiving the shots the vaccinated part may witness normal side effects with a slight reddish rash, fatigue, headache, muscle pain, chills and joint pains but these reactions are temporary and they vanish within a few hours or days,” he added.


Dr Adhikari further said that no serious and long-term effects have been found so far. However, a medical team has been mobilized to monitor any possible effects on the vaccinated persons.


Likewise, director of Shukraraj Tropical & Infectious Disease Hospital, Dr Sagar Raj Rajbhandari maintained that the one in ten persons receiving the shots have reported experiencing slight side effects so far. “Most of them have reported swelling, body pain, vomiting and headache which are common and normal,” he said.
