Indian dominance in junior tennis tournament

KATHMANDU, Feb 7: Indian players dominated the opening day of Nepal ITF Junior U-18 Tennis Tournament on Monday. Twelve Indian players including eight in boys' and four in girls' sections emerged victorious and booked their places in the second round.

KATHMANDU, Feb 7: Indian players dominated the opening day of Nepal ITF Junior U-18 Tennis Tournament on Monday. Twelve Indian players including eight in boys' and four in girls' sections emerged victorious and booked their places in the second round.

Similarly, on the same day, out of 12 participants, only two players from Nepal made it to the second round. Renjan Lama and Mayanka Rana were the only Nepali players secure victory in boys' and girls' events respectively. 



In the circuit one matches played at Satdobato tennis court, Theertha S Macherla, Mritunjya Badola, Atharva Sharma and Dipin Wadhwa confirmed their spots in the second round in boys' category. Similarly, other Indian participants Kabir Manrai, Ishan Sethi, Gunjan Jadhav and Pratyush Mohanty also made it to the second round in the same category. Renjan Lama was the only player from Nepal to register win in the event. Meanwhile, Ryo Lizumi of Japan and China's Yu Lun Xie also confirmed their spots in the second round winning their respective matches.  



Likewise, in the girls' event, alongside Nepal's Mayanka Rana Indian players Vaidehi Chaudhary, Yashaswini, Shivani Swarup Ingle and Malvika Shukla made it to the second round winning their respective matches in the inaugural day of the tournament. 



Similarly, Thailand's Punnin Kovapitukted, Jing Yang of China and Sri Lankan Anika Seneviratne also made it to the second round in the same event.
