NC’s Singh trailing behind independent Shah by over 17,000 votes

KATHMANDU, May 22: Independent candidate Balen Shah is leading in the mayoral race for Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) with 40,926 votes in the ongoing vote counting.

KATHMANDU, May 22: Independent candidate Balen Shah is leading in the mayoral race for Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) with 40,926 votes in the ongoing vote counting.


Shah’s closest rival Nepali Congress (NC) leader Sirjana Singh of the ruling alliance is trailing behind Shah with 23,548 votes.

Similarly, CPN-UML mayoral candidate Keshav Sthapit has received 22,696 votes. 


There are a total of 300,242 registered voters in KMC but only a little over half of them cast their votes in the May 13 local polls.
