Kathmandu Valley reports 445 new COVID-19 cases; 4,540 cases in last 15 days

KATHMANDU, Sept 3: As many as 445 more people were diagnosed with the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the Kathmandu Valley in the past 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP).

KATHMANDU, Sept 3: As many as 445 more people were diagnosed with the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the Kathmandu Valley in the past 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP).


Of the newly-confirmed cases, Kathmandu district alone witnessed 357 cases while the daily COVID-19 count in Lalitpur and Bhaktapur stood at 46 and 42, respectively.

With this, the COVID-19 tally in the Valley, which is also the federal capital of the country, stands at 6,593 - 5,265  in Kathmandu, 772 in Lalitpur and 556 in Bhaktapur districts.


The Valley also reported one more death on Thursday, according to Dr Jageshwar Gautam, spokesperson for the ministry. 


According to the data compiled by the MoHP, the Valley reported as many as 4,540 cases since August 20, the day the district administrations in the Valley enforced week-long prohibitory orders.  The orders, however, have been extended twice and will remain enforced until September 9. During this period, the Valley witnessed the highest single-day spike on September 1 (481 cases) and the lowest (166 cases) on August 23. 



The recent decision by the Valley district administrations requires anyone entering the Valley to have a negative PCR test report effective from Thursday.
