Landslide claims two lives in Rukum West

BIRENDRANAGAR, July 28: Two persons were killed when a landslide triggered by incessant rainfall swept away a house in Banphikot Rural Municipality-9 in Rukum West on Tuesday morning. The deceased have been identified as Nabin Kumar Sunar, 22, and Bal Bahadur Sunar,16.

BIRENDRANAGAR, July 28: Two persons were killed when a landslide triggered by incessant rainfall swept away a house in Banphikot Rural Municipality-9 in Rukum West on Tuesday morning. The deceased have been identified as Nabin Kumar Sunar, 22, and Bal Bahadur Sunar,16.


They were sleeping together at their own house when the incident took place, according to police. An elderly member of the family was injured in the incident and was immediately taken to hospital for treatment.

Spokesperson for Province Police Office Rajesh Nath Bastola said the bodies of Nabin and Bal Bahadur were recovered from the site, while four others-- Jhupi Kami,60, Byujhana Kami and a five-year-old and three -year-old grand-daughters - were rescued alive.


The landslide took place early this morning after incessant rainfall from Monday night. The landslides had swept away the house some 25 meters down
