KATHMANDU, Dec 7: Lawyers affiliated with Nepal Bar Association (NBA) have again staged protests outside the Supreme Court, demanding that Chief Justice Cholendra SJB Rana resign from his post immediately.

On the occasion, NBA Chairman Chandeshwor Shrestha claimed that the justice delivery process has not been able to resume due to his silence over the protests, demanding his resignation. He alleged that CJ Rana is not in favor of providing justice to justice seekers who reach out to the court for it but is in favor of ‘buying and selling’ of justice.

Chairman Shrestha also said that he will be holding talks with CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli today, to discuss the resignation of CJ Rana. Lawyers from across the country and the NBA have been staging protests outside the Supreme Court since October 31, demanding the chief justice’s resignation.

CJ Rana has been accused of seeking his share in the government through ‘give and take’ with the political parties for his personal ambitions. Justices had since boycotted all hearings at the Supreme Court since October 24, except for the cases related to habeas corpus.
