KATHMANDU, Jan 12: Lawyers affiliated with Nepal Bar Association have continued their protest outside the Supreme Court demanding the resignation of Chief Justice Cholendra SJB Rana.
Addressing the protest rally, Advocate Kirtiman Sharma Poudel said that the protests are being carried out to cleanse the judiciary. He said that the protests will be continued until CJ Rana resigns from the post.
Agitated lawyers continue protest outside Supreme Court
Advocate Ramchandra Simkhada said that the protest has helped to introduce the random selection process at courts across the country. He also clarified that there was a movement to discourage corruption and anomalies within the judiciary.
CJ Rana has been accused of seeking his share in the government through ‘give and take’ with the political parties for his personal ambitions. Justices of the apex court had boycotted all hearings at the Supreme Court since October 24 and have continued their protests ever since.
