KATHMANDU, May 28: The main opposition party, the Nepali Congress (NC), has approved an agreement to establish a parliamentary probe committee to investigate the misappropriation of cooperative funds.
The agreement was sanctioned during the party's parliamentary meeting held at Lhotse Hall in the Parliament Building on Tuesday.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, NC Chief Whip Ramesh Lekhak confirmed that the NC, along with other opposition parties, had decided to approve the agreement reached on Monday regarding the formation of the parliamentary probe committee. This committee will investigate the embezzlement and misappropriation of cooperative funds.
Lekhak stated that the members had agreed on the Terms of Reference (ToR) for the probe committee during Monday's meeting. The working group is expected to finalize these terms in today's meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR), after which the agreement, including the ToR, will be presented at the HoR meeting scheduled for 4 PM. The NC indicated that they can submit the names of the leaders to represent the party in the committee by 3 PM.
