To become the PP leader, four MPs who are seen aspiring for the post - Dilli Bahadur Chaudhary, Raju Khanal, Abdul Razzak and Bir Bahadur Rana - are in the race. The committee formed for the selection of the PP leader will start efforts to select the leader of the party. If this is not possible, the leader of the parliamentary party will be selected through elections. "We will try to select the PP leader through consensus," said Khagarajav Pandey of the committee.

Neupane said that due to the lack of effective leadership, the NC had to quit power. Similarly, the Lumbini Province NC has concluded that the party leadership was weak in breaking the alliance with the Maoists.
