KATHMANDU, July 2: A total of 2,292 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the country in the past 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health and Population.
The new cases were detected from 6,566 PCR tests and 4,030 antigen tests conducted during the same period. With the latest update, the COVID-19 caseload reaches 642,053.

Similarly, 3,451 COVID-19 patients enjoyed a recovery in the past 24 hours, taking the total recovery number at 603,600 till date, the Ministry said. Likewise, 34 people succumbed to the deadly infection in the same period. The number of COVID-19 fatalities totaled 9,179 as of Friday.
There are currently a total of 29,274 active cases of COVID-19 in the country. Among them, the Kathmandu district has recorded 5,040 cases, Lalitpur 1,825 cases, and Bhaktapur 1,283, the Ministry said.
