KATHMANDU, Feb 1: Nepal recorded 5,583 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday along with 8,237 recoveries and nine deaths, according to the latest information provided by the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP).
As many as 17,674 swab samples (including RDT antigen data received through SMS & Email) were tested for COVID-19 on the day. Of them, 3,657 PCR and 1,923 antigen tests turned out to be positive for the deadly virus.

There are currently 74,952 active cases of COVID-19 across the country. Among them, 73,178 are in self-isolation, 1,475 in institutional isolation, 279 in ICUs, and 50 on ventilators. Similarly, 137 people are currently in quarantine facilities. So far, 11,752 people have died of the viral infection across the country.
Meanwhile, the Kathmandu Valley alone recorded 1,907 cases of the virus on Tuesday. Of them, 1,404 were recorded in Kathmandu, 195 in Bhaktapur, and 308 in Lalitpur districts.
