Nepali Congress extends support to Karnali CM Shahi

KATHMANDU, April 16: The Nepali Congress (NC) has decided to extend its support to the chief minister of Karnali Province, Mahendra Bahadur Shahi.

KATHMANDU, April 16: The Nepali Congress (NC) has decided to extend its support to the chief minister of Karnali Province, Mahendra Bahadur Shahi.


Addressing a meeting of the province assembly on Friday, NC’s parliamentary party leader in the province, Jivan Bahadur Shahi shared that their party had decided to support the CM Shahi-led government which is in crisis after the CPN-UML withdrew its support.

Of the 40 members of the provincial assembly, the Congress party has a total of six lawmakers and the ruling CPN (Maoist Center) has 12 seats after one of its lawmakers joined the CPN-UML.  Similarly, there are a total of 20 lawmakers representing the UML including the assembly speaker.


CM Shahi is taking a vote of confidence at the ongoing meeting of the provincial assembly.
