Nepali soccer team leaving for Qatar to play Asian Cup Qualifier

KATHMANDU, Mar 23: The national football squad is leaving for Doha of Qatar to play the Group 'F' final match under the AFC Asian Cup Qualifier.

KATHMANDU, Mar 23: The national football squad is leaving for Doha of Qatar to play the Group 'F' final match under the AFC Asian Cup Qualifier. 


The All Nepal Football Association bade farewell to the team amidst a programme on Friday. The team will play against Yemen at Suheim Bin Hamad Stadium of Doha on March 27.

Prior to this, Nepal and Yemen's match held in Kathmandu ended in a goalless draw. Nepal has so far played five qualifying matches. Out of these matches two matches ended in a draw. It has collected two points and has already been knocked out from the group. The March 27 match is only a prestige match. 


In Group 'F', the Philippines is in the top place by collecting 9 points followed by Yemen with 7 points. Tajikistan which collects the equal 7 points to Yemen was placed in the third position on the basis of goal difference. Nepal is at the bottom of the points chart. 


The team includes goalkeepers Bikesh Kuthu, Kiran Chemjong and Alan Neupane, defenders Anant Tamang, Biraj Maharjan, Rajin Dhimal, Aditya Chaudhary, Dinesh Rajbanshi and Devendra Tamang, midfielders Sujal Shrestha, Anjan Bista, Rohit Chand, Bishal Rai, Sunil Bal, Heman Gurung and Hemanta Thapa Magar and strikers Bimal Gharti Magar, Suman Lama, Nawa Yug Shrestha and George Prince Karki.Koji Gyotoku is the team main coach, Rajukaji Shakya is the coach and goalkeeper coach Ujjwal Manandhar.
