Nepse drops 10.10 points; daily turnover rises to Rs 1.544 billion

KATHMANDU, Dec 5: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Tuesday dropped 10.10 points to close at 1,837.71 points.


The secondary market opened at 1,847.81 points and peaked to the day’s high 1,857.29 points in the first 45 minutes of trading. The market then went downhill and reached as low as 1,833.26 points before the last five minutes. The market recovered around four points before it closed for the day.

The sensitive index that measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies also declined by 2.14 points. The daily turnover increased to Rs 1.544 billion from Rs 1.197 billion on Monday. 


Out of the 13 trading groups, only life insurance added 16.93 points to its market index. Manufacturing and processing lost the biggest of 124.56 points, followed by hotels and tourism, and non-life insurance.  


Among individual companies, 161 had their indices declined whereas 62 companies added to their indices.


Mountain Energy Nepal Limited had the largest trading of Rs 362.95 million. Bishal Bazar Company Limited shed 9.53 percent of its market value and was the biggest loser. Singati Hydro Energy Limited with an additional 10 percent in its market price led the gainer segment.
