Nepse gains 20.67 points, daily turnover rises to Rs 1.087 billion

KATHMANDU, Nov 22: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Wednesday surged 20.67 points to close at 1,850.33 points.

KATHMANDU, Nov 22: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Wednesday surged 20.67 points to close at 1,850.33 points.


The secondary market opened at 1,829.65 points and plunged to the day’s low at 1,816.66 points in the first half an hour. However, the market gained around 17 points in the next moment and remained stable for around one and a half hours. The market recovered around 18 points in the last one hour trading.

The sensitive index that measures the performance of blue chip companies also added 2.15 points. The daily turnover increased to 1.087 billion from Rs 950.47 million on Tuesday. 


Only mutual funds lost around 0.03 percent while the remaining 12 groups gained in  market values. Hotels and tourism gained the highest of 167.43 points, while non-life insurance and life insurance also lost three-digit points in their market indices.  


Among individual companies, the market values of 195 companies inclined whereas 40 companies posted losses in their indices.


Sonapur Minerals and Oil Limited with a transaction of its shares worth Rs 107.603 million topped the transaction volume list. Buddha Bhumi Nepal Hydropower Company gained the highest of 10 percent of its market price. Sayapatri Hydropower Limited lost 8.15 percent, the highest in the row.
