NEPSE gains 38.14 points; daily turnover rises to Rs 6.868 billion

KATHMANDU, Dec 18: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Monday surged by 38.14 points to close at 2,060.49 points.


The secondary market opened at 2,022.35 points and went through a series of fluctuations to hit the day’s high at 2,070.44 points during the midway of the trading hours. In the second half, the market shed around 10 points before it closed for the day.

The sensitive index that measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies also added 9.56 points. The daily turnover amount escalated further to Rs 6.868 billion from Rs 5.157 billion on Sunday. 


Hydropower, with a fall in its index by 7.83 points, was the only losing group. Out of the 12 gainers, microfinance added the highest of 197.02 points. Hotels and tourism, manufacturing and processing and life insurance followed in terms of gainers of three-digit points.


Among individual companies, 165 were recorded as gainers whereas 72 companies were losers.


Himal Dolakha Hydropower Company Limited had transactions of its shares worth Rs 262.67 million and stood atop in terms of the trade volume. Bottlers Nepal (Balaju) Limited, adding 10 percent to its market price, was recorded as the biggest gainer. Himalayan Power Partner Ltd lost the highest of 7.86 percent of its market value.
