Nepse nosedives 20.54 points, daily turnover falls to Rs 1.262 billion on Sunday

KATHMANDU, Aug 27: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Sunday plunged 20.54 points to close at 1,993.38 points.


The secondary market opened at 2,013.93 points and rose two points in the first few minutes of trading. The market, however, went down in the remaining trading hours and hit the day’s low at 1,989.49 points in the last five minutes. The market recovered around four points before it closed for the day.

The sensitive index that measures the performance of blue chip companies also lost 3.44 points. The daily turnover fell to as low as Rs 1.262 billion, compared to Rs 1.550 billion on Thursday. 


Only mutual fund was the gainer while the remaining 12 groups had their market values decline. Non-life insurance index dropped 128.67 points, the highest of the 13 trading groups, while life insurance shed 104.62 points.


Among individual companies, the market values of 195 companies declined. On the other hand, only 28 companies were registered as gainers.


Asian Life Insurance Co Limited, with a turnover of Rs 74.689 million, topped in terms of transaction volume. Makar Jitumaya Suri Hydropower Limited lost 9.63 percent in its market price and was recorded the top loser. Kutheli Bukhari Small Hydropower Limited gained the highest of 10 percent.
