NRB sells 43,000 gold and silver coins in five days

KATHMANDU, Nov 10: The Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has sold a total of 43,000 gold and silver coins in five days. The Mint Division of the NRB located in Babarmahal, Kathmandu started selling gold and silver coins from Sunday targeting Dhanteras (first day of Tihar festival).

KATHMANDU, Nov 10: The Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has sold a total of 43,000 gold and silver coins in five days. The Mint Division of the NRB located in Babarmahal, Kathmandu started selling gold and silver coins from Sunday targeting Dhanteras (first day of Tihar festival).


Head of Mint Division Thaneshwar Acharya said that 43,000 gold and silver coins were sold during the period from Sunday to Thursday.

NRB has been selling gold coins of 10 grams, 5 grams and 2.5 grams gold coins and silver coins of 10 grams and 25 grams (medallions). The NRB has been selling coins by adding manufacturing cost to the prevailing market price of gold and silver.


While worshiping goddess Laxmi on Dhanteras, it is customary to keep gold and silver coins. Therefore, the NRB has been selling gold and silver coins targeting Tihar. According to the officials of the NRB, the demand for gold and silver coins is higher this year than in previous years.
