KATHMANDU, June 2: The number of COVID-19 cases in Nepal crossed 2000 mark on Tuesday with the highest addition on a single day at 288 cases.
According to Bikash Devkota, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, the number of coronavirus cases reached 2099 as of Tuesday afternoon.
Of the infected persons, 1949 are males while 150 are females, Devkota said. The spokesperson said that 74 new cases of coronavirus were detected in Rautahat district alone. Syanja district reported five new cases, Saptari has one new case and Bardiya reported three new cases of coronavirus.
With 448 new cases, Nepal’s COVID-19 tally crosses 5000 mark
During the test conducted at National Public Health Laboratory, 36 persons from Rauthat tested positive for COVID-19.
Banke witnessed 17 new cases of coronavirus and 27 persons from Surkhet and nine from Dailekh were diagnosed with the virus. Parbat district reported the first five COVID-19 cases today. According to Devkota, 18 persons from Salyan tested positive for virus. 10 persons from Achham, one from Bara district and 17 others from Dang were found infected by the virus. Pyauthan witnessed one new case of COVID-19.
Kanchanpur reported eight new cases of COVID-19 and Kailali witnessed ten new cases today. Dhanusha, Mahottari, Sarlahi and Siraha districts reported six, two, 21 and 17 cases of COVID-19 respectively.
Bhaktapur and Dhading district reported one each case today. 16 people from Kapilvastu were diagnosed with virus while four persons from Kathmandu, two each from Nawalparasi and Nuwakot were found infected. Rupandehi also reported fresh 10 cases of coronavirus.
