With 338 new cases of coronavirus, Nepal's COVID-19 tally crosses 23,000-mark

KATHMANDU, Aug 10: With 338 new cases of coronavirus recorded in the past 24 hours across the country, Nepal's COVID-19 tally has risen to 23,310.


At a regular media briefing on Monday afternoon, Jageshwar Gautam, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, said that 338 new cases were detected during 8,432 PCR tests conducted at various labs across the country.


Nepal has also witnessed significant cases of COVID-19 recovery in recent weeks, the spokesperson said, According to Gautam, 70.8% COVID-19 patients were recovered as of today.

In the past 24 hours alone, 140 persons who earlier tested positive for coronavirus were discharged after recovery from various health institutions across the country.


Altogether 4,52,236 persons underwent PCR tests in various parts of the country since coronavirus outbreak in Nepal in January 2020. "As many as 8,432 persons underwent PCR tests in the past 24 hours in various parts of the country," Gautam said. The country's COVID-19 recovery tally stands at 16,493. According to spokesperson Gautam, there are currently 6,738 active cases of coronavirus.
