KATHMANDU, June 21: With 421 new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the number of COVID-19 cases in Nepal has crossed 9000-mark on Sunday.
At a daily media briefing, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, Jageshwar Gautam shared that the number of coronavirus cases in Nepal jumped to 9026 after the confirmation of 421 new cases of coronavirus during tests conducted at 22 labs.
Number of COVID-19 cases in Nepal crosses 2000 mark
"Of the total infected in Nepal, 8206 are males and 820 are females," Gautam said.
As of today, 94928 persons are in quarantine facilities across Nepal. The government has expanded the scope of COVID-19 testing in the recent days keeping in mind the rising COVID-19 cases, he said.
"As of now, the government conducted 1, 75,173 tests through PCR method while 2, 62,174 tests were carried out through RDT method," the spokesperson of the health ministry added.
Likewise, 7231 persons are undergoing treatment at various health facilities on the suspicion of COVID-19.
