OAG questions NA regarding Rs 2.76 billion spent on topics unrelated to Fast Track project

KATHMANDU, April 15: The Office of the Auditor General (OAG) has expressed concerns over the expenditure of the Nepalese Army (NA) on the Kathmandu-Terai Expressway Project under various headings that are not related to the fast-track project.

KATHMANDU, April 15: The Office of the Auditor General (OAG) has expressed concerns over the expenditure of the Nepalese Army (NA) on the Kathmandu-Terai Expressway Project under various headings that are not related to the fast-track project.


The 60th Annual Report of the OAG states that the army has spent Rs 2.76 billion in the name of the fast-track projects although those expenses are not directly related to the project.


Among the expenses that are not directly related to the project include purchase of vehicles, administration expenses, equipment, fuel, furniture, camp construction and other expenses.

According to the report, this expenditure amounts to 8.04 percent of the total expenditure incurred by the project so far. Under this project, the army has spent Rs 329 million under the heading of fuel. Similarly, it is mentioned in the report that Rs 67 million has been spent on the construction of camps.


According to the OAG report, the army has spent Rs 42.45 million on administrative matters. The army has spent Rs 5 million on furniture and Rs 158.5 million on vehicles.


It is mentioned in the report that the army also spent Rs 782.3 million on equipment.


According to the report, the Nepalese Army has so far spent Rs 34.29 billion on the project. Out of this amount, Rs 2.76 billion was spent on topics that are not directly related to the project.


It is mentioned in the report that the project has spent Rs 1.53 billion for consulting services so far. The report has suggested completing the work on time as the cost of consulting services will also increase as the project completion time increases.
