President grants clemency to 381 prisoners on the occasion of National Democracy Day

KATHMANDU, Feb 18: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has given clemency to 381 prisoners, who were serving their lives in prison for various crimes.


Based on the recommendations of the Council of Ministers meeting on February 19, the pending imprisonment of 381 prisoners including Bishnu Kumar Limbu, has been waived as per the provision in Article 276 of the Constitution of Nepal, Criminal Offenses (Sentence and Execution Act), and Senior Citizens Act, 2063 BS.

It is stated in the statement released on Friday by Assistant Spokesperson of the President's Office Leela Kant Paudel that the clemency was granted on the occasion of Democracy Day, 2079 BS in accordance with Section 12.


Based on the recommendation of cabinet, President Bidya Devi Bhandari has given clemnancy to 14 prisoners including Pushkar Gautam in accordance with Article 276 of the Constitution of Nepal and Article 159 of the National Criminal Procedure, 2074 on the occasion of Democracy Day, 2079 BS.
