Six drug stores fined in Chitwan

KATHMANDU, Oct 5: The local administration has taken action against six drug stores at Bharatpur in Chitwan district. The six medicine shops have been charged with fines ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 300,000 by the local authorities for not following the regulations and not meeting the required criterias.

KATHMANDU, Oct 5: The local administration has taken action against six drug stores at Bharatpur in Chitwan district. The six medicine shops have been charged with fines ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 300,000 by the local authorities for not following the regulations and not meeting the required criterias. 


According to Gopichandra Dawadi, a Nayab Subba (non-gazetted first class official) of the legal section at the District Administration Office (DAO), Nawal Dental Clinic, Bharatpur Polyclinic, Nawal Polyclinic, Miracle Pharma, Region Pharmacy and Apollo Dental are among the drug stores fined by the DAO.

According to Chudamani Sharma, Assistant Chief District Officer, Nawal Dental Clinic, Bharatpur Polyclinic and Nawal Polyclinic were fined Rs 300,000 each. Likewise, Miracle Pharma was fined Rs 250,000, Region Pharmacy Rs 20,000 and Apollo dental Clinic was fined Rs 5,000. 


The drug stores were charged by the authorities for not having purchase bills, skilled manpower, education certificates, charging high prices, operating without a permit among other reasons, Sharma said. The local authorities have stepped up monitoring of the market due to the upcoming festive season.
