KATHMANDU, Feb 17: Police arrested ten students after a clash between the students affiliated to All Nepal National Independent Students Union (Revolutionary) (ANNISU-R) and Nepal Students' Union (NSU) at Nepal Manabiki Campus (formerly known as RR College) on Monday morning.
Police have been mobilized after the students belonging to ANNISU-R, the student wing of the ruling Nepal Communist Party and two students belong to NSU, the student wing of main opposition Nepali Congress pelted stones at each other today morning.
SANN College vandalized, three arrested
Students belonging to the two students' union clashed over Facebook chat comments and planned picnic, according to the students.
The NSU has claimed that the ANNISU-R first attacked its cadres Abiskar Poudel, Suman Khadka and Kushal Basnet.
Of the arrested, eight students belong to ANNISU-R, the student wing of the ruling Nepal Communist Party and two students belong to NSU, the student wing of main opposition Nepali Congress.
Puskar Baskota, Sanjeev Dhakal, Sunil Sharma, Ramji Basnet, Umesh Gurung and Biku Khadka were among those arrested. The arrested have been kept at Mahendra Club Police, Exhibition Road.
During the scuffle, police baton-charged the students. The ANNISU-R has demanded to release its cadres including RR campus unit treasurer Sangam Devkota immediately. Classes have been disrupted following the incident.
