KATHMANDU, Jan 14: Three Nepali siblings- Mingma Sherpa, Chhang Dawa Sherpa, and Tashi Lakpa Sherpa, who left for Antarctica on December 13 last year in a bid to reach the South Pole and summit Mt Vinson have successfully fulfilled both their missions set at the continent. With this, the three sherpa brothers have become the first three siblings to ski to the South Pole and to ascend Mt Vinson (4892 meters) together.
The team had left for Doha from Kathmandu on December 13 with the Nepali national flag which was handed over to the team by Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba. However, the trio's mission did not end here. They embarked on the journey to Antarctica with their main goal to reach the highest point in all continents across the world.

With Vinson Massif ticked off the list, Chhang Dawa has Puncak Jaya in Indonesia and Mt Denali in North America to summit to complete all seven summits in seven continents, Tashi Lakpa has just Mt Puncak Jaya left to summit. Meanwhile, Mingma still has five mountains to summit in the remaining continents apart from Mt Everest in Asia.
The three brothers operate a jointly-run trekking and expedition agency known as Seven Summit Treks Pvt Ltd in Kathmandu.
The siblings have also scheduled a plan to undertake the North Pole expedition in the spring of 2022. They have decided to finish all the remaining summits by the next one and a half years. The seven highest peaks in the seven continents include Mt Kilimanjaro in Africa, Mt Elbrus in Europe, Denali in North America, Mt Aconcagua in South America, Vinson Massif in Antarctica, Mt Everest in Asia, and Mt Puncak Jaya in Oceania.
