Woman succumbs to COVID-19 in Butwal

BUTWAL, Sept 3: A woman succumbed to novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) at Lumbini Provincial Hospital in Butwal on Wednesday night.

An elderly woman aged 77 from Sainamaina Municipality-11 died while undergoing treatment at the isolation ward of the hospital.


She was brought to the hospital for treatment on Wednesday. According to Corona Focal person of the hospital Dr Sudarshan Thapa, she was subsequently tested positive for COVID-19 when a PCR test was conducted. “Except high fever and cough, she didn’t have any other chronic diseases,” he added.


With this, the number of people dying of COVID-19 in the hospital has reached 11. As of Wednesday, 16 COVID-19 patients are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital. Four of those receiving treatment for COVID-19 are on ventilator support.
