200 COVID-19 cases in Kathmandu Valley in past 24 hours


KATHMANDU, Aug 20: As many as 200 more people have tested positive for the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the Kathmandu Valley in the last 24 hours.

During a regular virtual media briefing by the Ministry of Health and Population, spokesperson Dr Jageshwar Gautam shared that Kathmandu district alone witnessed 174 new cases of COVID-19 while 18 and eight people were diagnosed with this infectious disease in Lalitpur and Bhaktapur, respectively.


Kathmandu also reported a COVID-19 related death in the last 24 hours. 


The Valley has witnessed a total of 2,123 cases since August 1. With the government deciding to lift the lockdown, the capital reported a spike in new infections. In view of the rising COVID-19 cases, the District Administration Offices in the three districts in the Valley have enforced week-long prohibitory orders starting 12 am Thursday.
