Four arrested for attacking police, vandalizing police station

SYANGJA, Dec 15: District Police Office, Syangja on Friday arrested four individuals on the charge of attacking police and vandalizing a police station in the district.

SYANGJA, Dec 15: District Police Office, Syangja on Friday arrested four individuals on the charge of attacking police and vandalizing a police station in the district.


On Thursday police in Biruwa Rural Municipality had arrested two people for misbehaving with police officers. The two had allegedly verbally abused police officers and also attacked them when police prevented them from urinating in public place. Following their arrest, the two -- Nir Bahadur Rana, 36, and Khem Bahadur Rana, 33, of Biruwa Rural Municipality -- called their relatives on the phone. Then a group of 28/29 people came to the police station at midnight and attacked constable Milan Saru and vandalized the police station. They also managed to free the two from police detention.

Deputy Superintendent (DSP) and spokesman of the DPO, Prakash Bista, said, "I've learnt that when police tried to prevent them from disturbing public peace they attacked the police."


Immediately after the group vandalized the station and attacked the constable, a team from the DPO and Ward Police Office, Waling reached the incident site. Later, Nir Bahadur, Khem Bahadur along with Mohan Rana, 29 and Kamal Rana, 26 of Biruwa-2 were arrested on the charge of attacking police and vandalism. DSP Bista informed that they are working to formally charge the four for public offense.
