KATHMANDU, June 11: Supreme Court on Sunday could not conduct hearing on the writ petition demanding court order to resume vote count in Bharatpur Metropolitan City as the bench assigned to hear it could not manage time.
Division bench of Justices Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha and Prakash Man Singh Raut was to hear the petition but the hearing is postponed in the lack of time to conduct the hearings.
Hearing on Bharatpur case postponed again
Earlier, single bench of Justice Cholendra SJB Rana had asked both sides to attend hearing scheduled for today to decide whether to continue interim order or not.
Gunjaman Bishwakarma, the CPN-UML candidate for a ward member in Bharatpur 19, had filed writ petition demanding apex court's order to resume vote counting as the Election Commission took a decision to conduct re-voting in the ward 19 of Bharatpur. The EC had taken the decision as CPN (Maoist Center) cadres tore around 90 ballot papers during the vote count of Bharatpur 19 as they felt that their candidate could loose the election.
