Independent candidate Hamal leading mayoral race by 11,000 votes in Dhangadhi sub-metropolis

DHANGADHI, May 21: Independent candidate Gopal Hamal is leading the mayoral race in Dhangadhi sub-metropolis of Sudurpaschim Province by a margin of almost 11,000 votes in the ongoing vote counting.

DHANGADHI, May 21: Independent candidate Gopal Hamal is leading the mayoral race in Dhangadhi sub-metropolis of Sudurpaschim Province by a margin of almost 11,000 votes in the ongoing vote counting. 


Hamal has received 22,541 votes so far while his nearest rival Nrip Bahadur Bada of Nepali Congress (NC) has received 11,544 votes.  Similarly, Rana Bahadur Chand of CPN-UML has received 6,423 votes.

Counting of votes in Ward 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 15, 16, 17, 18 and 19 of Dhangadhi Sub-metropolis has been completed. Similarly, vote counting in Ward No. 8, 9, 12, 12, and 14 are currently underway while the ballot boxes of Ward No. 10, 11 are yet to be started. A total of 63,715 people had cast their votes.
