The district court in Tanahu remanded actor Paul Shah in custody for seven days on charges of rape on Sunday.


On Wednesday, a complaint was lodged against Shah for raping a minor singer. He had been absconding since then and surrendered at the District Police Office, Tanahu on Sunday afternoon.

The family of the alleged rape survivor lodged a first information report (FIR) on 23 February with the district police office. Actor Shah allegedly seduced and raped the girl on many occasions, according to the FIR (on April 27, 2021, and December 25, 2020 in Pokhara, and on March 20, 2021 in Chitwan).


The FIR demands that Shah be prosecuted under Section 219 (1) of the Penal Code 2074 and that the reported victim be compensated under Section 228 of the Code.
